Healing Generational Patterns in Parenting
Heading 2
You want your children to have a different experience than you did.
I help mothers understand the patterns they carry, respond to their children with greater intention, and build the kind of connection that helps children feel safe, understood, and loved.
You Can Break Generational Patterns Without Being A Perfect Parent
When you decided to have kids, you knew you wanted to parent differently.
You know what it's like to question your worth, feel unseen, or carry wounds from your own childhood. You've spent years trying to heal, understand yourself, and make sense of what you've experienced.
You don't want your children to have to do what you have.
But sometimes, despite all the work you've done, you find yourself reacting in ways you never intended. You lose your patience, get triggered, or struggle to know when to hold a boundary and when to give more room. You worry you're repeating the very patterns you're trying so hard to change.
I understand this. I've spent years doing my own work, learning, and practicing intentional parenting. One thing I've come to understand is that you can repeat a pattern and still be breaking generational patterns.

Breaking Cycles Through Awareness and Repair
Breaking cycles starts with seeing our children and ourselves clearly. We learn to recognize our own patterns, understand how they developed, and have compassion for the ways they once helped us.
We also learn to see our children's behavior through the lens of child development and understand what they may be communicating when they don't yet have the words.
And when we lose our patience or respond in ways we regret, we repair. We help our children make sense of what happened without making them responsible for our emotions.
When you can return to your child and say, “I was overwhelmed, and I spoke to you in a way I wish I hadn't. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm sorry. I love you, and I'm here if you want to talk about how that felt,” you're showing them that relationships can have hard moments and still be safe.
You don't have to get it right every time to give your children something different from what you received.

How I Work With You
In therapy, we'll explore the patterns that show up in your parenting, where they came from, and how you can respond with greater awareness and intention.
I'll offer psychoeducation about child development, help you develop practical ways to repair after difficult moments, and work with you through specific parenting challenges as they arise. Your values and the kind of parent you want to be will guide our work.

What You Can Work Toward
Therapy can help you:
-
Feel more confident in your parenting choices.
-
Understand your triggers and respond with greater intention.
-
Forgive yourself for mistakes rather than getting caught in shame and self-doubt.
-
Trust your ability to reconnect and repair when things go wrong.
-
Build a stronger relationship with your child while continuing to heal your own childhood wounds.
The hard moments won't disappear. But you can learn to meet them differently, take responsibility for your part, and trust that repair can strengthen your bond with your child.
You don't have to be a perfect parent to build a different kind of relationship with your children.
